Recently, the list of projects 2020 supported by National Natural Science Fund and Social Science Late-stage Fund was announced. There are five projects passed in HIE, including three projects supported by National Natural Science Fund and two projects supported by National Social Science Late-stage Fund.

HIE has always been attaching great importance to the application of national funds. In 2020, thematic arrangement meetings and coordination promotion meetings have been held many times by school leaders, Science and Technology Department and all schools. During the pandemic, the majority of faculty and staff actively participated in the front line of scientific research, actively carried out the application of national funds, and improved the quality of application documents in various ways. Compared with previous years, three national natural science fund youth projects have been established in our school this year, which shows that the reserve of outstanding young talents in our school has been further improved and strengthened. Meanwhile, HIE has applied for 4 national social science late-stage funded projects, and 2 projects have been approved, with a funding rate of 50%, which is also a year with the maximum national social science late-stage funded projects approved by far.

The approval of five national scientific research projects has enhanced the scientific research atmosphere and promoted discipline construction and development of our school. Since the school was approved as a college featuring practical practices in Hunan in 2018, with discipline construction as the leading factor, the school has intensified the construction of eight applied disciplines such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, control science and engineering, chemical engineering and technology, business administration and design. It has reserved a batch of outstanding young talents through internal training and external introduction. They root themselves in scientific research and industry-university-research cooperation, and strive to make contributions for national strategies and social economic development. In 2020, a number of representative achievements emerged in school, showing a good trend of steady progress in national project application and project approval.
